Topic 2
GitHub Account Setup
Prepare one GitHub account for repository hosting, sharing, and later collaboration tasks.
Create or confirm the account
Use one GitHub account for research work. Avoid splitting the workflow across temporary accounts.
Start from the main GitHub homepage.
If you do not already have an account, sign up from that page.
Turn on basic security
At minimum, set a strong password and a recovery path you control. Enable two-factor authentication if available.
Prepare a usable profile
Make sure the account has a stable username, a readable display name, and a verified email address. These details make collaboration less confusing later.
Before proceeding
If you can sign in reliably, receive GitHub email, and see a stable username on your profile, continue to the VS Code connection step.
